A SUNNY SUNDAY IN BRISTOL - BRISTOL MINIDAY 2012
After 2 days of solid rain and wind, the sun finally came out to shine at Bristol Miniday! And a very sunny Sunday we had indeed. All you campers and clubs -we salute you - aving braved out gale force winds, horizontal rain mixed in with a little sun.
The challenging conditions threw various obstacles at us, battering/crippling our marquees and flooding the fields. So many shows this summer had been forced to cancel/postpone and we were terrified that we would have to follow suit and disappoint.
Thankfully though the landlord came to the rescue and we were able to move the show onto hard standing and place all the traders indoors. We think that the indoor areas worked well considering how late in the day we had to change things, and with a bit of tweaking, the use of the big barns will be the way to go forward in the future.
The Mini Clubs turned up in force, most having travelled through the early morning hours in horrible weather, not knowing that the sun would be shining down on Bristol all day. Every year we have allocated pitches for the mini clubs, but with the changes made to the layout it was more a case of fitting here, there and everywhere!! So, thanks for filling in the gaps and helping us out.
Congratulations to Somerset Rusteez for winning a very tightly contested Kings and Queens themed Club Competition. It all went down to the final round - the mini push. It was great to have that event back on the list of competitions again - it'slways a crowd pleaser. Somerset Mini Owners came a very close 2nd, also winning the award for the Best Club stand, with Torbay in 3rd. Renegade brought a 4th dimension to the competition. Mr. Blobby and the Renegade crew gave it everything they had but having missed the first 2 games, sadly couldn't catch up with the top 3.
A big thanks to Six-Ex Mini Owners who did a sterling job judging the Show and Shine, yet again. With Sandra Britton and her Mini "Milley" stealing the show....yet again!! Well done Sandra. Click here to see who the winners were. Six – Ex have been working with us for over 15 years, organising and judging the show & shine (not an easy job by any means!) to raise money for The Children’s Hospice South West.
I’d also like to give special thanks to Gerry and Mandy Watkins. Your help with the show was massively appreciated. We loved having the H4H Cruise leading out on Saturday, and your choice of bands was top notch. We certainly had a good party on Saturday night!! Giving most a slightly slower start on Sunday morning! Gerry Watkins - You've got the love!!
Thank you all for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all next year :)
