FABULOUS AT FIFTY
50th Birthday Party in the Sunshine
The gates of Puxton park opened, as the sun shone on the large field of gleaming Mini’s all eagerly assembled to celebrate 50 years of this famous British Icon.
This year saw many club stands and members decorated in a fantastic display of party themes showing true dedication and creating a real party spirit. Darleks patrolled the club isles, while Elvis, Zorro and other celebrity characters displayed themselves (was that the real Toyah Wilcox?) and this, combined with rows packed full of traders and autojumble, set the scene for the day.
Six ex and New Mini Severns excelled as ever to bring a top quality, well organised Show n Shine in the heart of the arena with large entries and higher standards than ever before, and the new MINI display completed the line up.
Kids were entertained with a treasure hunt, mini buzzer challenge, a huge slide and hotly contested colouring competition as well as stacks of giveaway prizes throughout the day.
Club competitions were as fiercely contested as ever, with spacehoppers and musical chairs providing lots of high speed giggles and a few casualties (we won’t mention the music, oops!), whilst in contrast the Birthday cake making and eating competition spawned its own heroes and more than a small mess which the kids enjoyed scoffing.
The trade arena bustled in the blazing hot sunshine (a great contrast to last year) while others chose to take to the shade or buy a commemorative T shirt.
By mid afternoon prize giving netted some unique trophies and prizes for Show n Shine winners and clubs alike, kids had their own winning moments of fame too!
Everyone who attended went to great effort to ensure that this was a memorable occasion which really set this party alight.
All in all adults and kids had a great time, lots of fun in the sun and will hopefully remember this fantastic tribute Mini birthday party for years to come.
Many thanks to all who came and your brilliant efforts which made the event so memorable.
